<< BackMath team wins Marmion contest
On January 30th, Da Vinci Academy middle school students competed in a math contest hosted annually by Marmion Academy in Aurora. The event included both individual and team challenges, and Da Vinci fielded two teams that competed in Division One with nineteen other small schools and parochial schools.
At the individual level, eighth grader Alex Park placed first in his grade level. Seventh grader Kenneth Martin won second place in his grade level.
At the team level, Team One from Da Vinci finished in first place. Team members included Alex Park, Kenneth Martin, seventh grader Ben Oriold, sixth grader Nick Michuda, and fifth grader Joe Bartusek.
Scores were also combined for individual and team results. Team One earned first place overall, and Team Two from Da Vinci placed third. Team Two members were eighth grader Scott Rogman, seventh grader T.K. Hood, seventh grader Dan Schulz, fifth grader Nick Chen, and fifth grader Sammy Zeng.
The Da Vinci math team is coached by middle school math teacher Clare Detzler. The team will compete in the regional MathCounts event the weekend of February 6th.
