Tuition at Da Vinci Academy covers 90% of the cost of educating
each student. Each year, Da Vinci makes up the 10% gap
through two development efforts, the Annual Giving Campaign and the
Auction.
Almost all independent schools rely on development revenue as a
source of funding.
Da Vinci counts on charitable giving each year from the Board of
Trustees, staff, parents, grandparents, alumni, and corporate
matching. The school invests donations toward financial
stability and providing the best possible education.
Specifically, Da Vinci uses development money for four primary
purposes:
- Reduce pressure on tuition, keeping the school affordable to
more families
- Enhance the school's technology, curriculum, and
facilities
- Retain excellent teachers and contribute to their ongoing
professional development
- Guarantee the future sustainability of the school
Parent participation in fund raising is vital to being part of
the Da Vinci Academy community. We recognize that parents
make a significant financial commitment by paying tuition, but we
also ask families to make Da Vinci one of their highest
philanthropic priorities. Please visit the Annual Giving
Campaign and Auction pages for more information on how you
can support Da Vinci Academy.
Why doesn't the school just charge enough tuition to cover the
full cost of educating each student?
- Da Vinci is a non-profit, so development contributions are tax
deductible (unlike tuition).
- Contributions can come from many other sources than parents who
pay tuition. We receive donations from grandparents and other
relatives, staff, and alumni families. Some employers offer
gift matching, which provides another excellent source of
support.
- Tuition would need to increase from $15,990 to $17,600.
As other schools do not charge the full tuition either, we would
put ourselves at a significant competitive disadvantage in the
market.
