The camp brochure is ready and registration is now open!  There will be eight weeks of camp starting the week of June 11 and ending the week of July 30.

Update: The unforgettable "Jack Sparrow Live!" show is booked for Thursday, June 28 during the "Buried Treasure" week of camp, which is Week 3 from June 25-29.  Don't miss it!

Update: Hard copies of the brochure and registration form are now available.  Please note, however, that the hard copy registration form has a typo with the week numbers.  Just refer to the dates and themes of the camp weeks to avoid confusion.  The PDF version of the registration form has been fixed, so the camp week numbers on that version are correct.

Summer Camp Overview

Da Vinci Academy Summer Day Camp is open to the public and offers eight weekly sessions that run from June 11th to August 3rd.  Jamie Barbeau, the Summer Camp director, has put together a terrific program that offers kids an opportunity for fun, excitement, and discovery in a lively but well-supervised day camp setting.  Each week of camp offers a variety of activities including enrichment and discovery learning classes, guest speakers, field trips and swim days, camp songs, arts & crafts, sports & games, and more.

Summer Camp includes four options:

  • Full day camp (9:00 AM to 3:30 PM) for students entering grades K-6
  • Leaders in Training (LIT) for students entering 7th grade and above
  • Discovery Detectives features theme-based hobbies presented by the camp staff  from 3:45-4:30 (Mondays for K-3, Thursdays for 4-LIT)
  • One-night Lock-ins occur twice during the summer and are open to campers from 4th grade through LIT
  • Before care is available starting at 7:30 AM, and after care is available until 6:00 PM

Location
The camp runs at the Da Vinci Academy campus.  The camp includes activities held at the school campus, along with a weekly swim day at a park in Elgin.

Weekly Camp Themes
Topics connect across subject areas like science, literature, social studies, and the arts.  Here are the 2012 camp themes, with the separate Discovery Detectives weekly themes in parentheses:

  • June 11-15: Superheroes Save the Day (DD: Expressions of Dance)
  • June 18-22: Dinosaur Roar (DD: Fantastic Photography)
    • June 22 Lock-In: Ace of Cakes (culinary creativity, fun food challenges)
  • June 25-29: Buried Treasure (DD: Learning Español)
    • Featuring "Jack Sparrow Live!" on Thursday, June 28
  • July 2-6: Sports Stars (DD: Yoga Relaxation) *short week because of July 4th
  • July 9-13: Movie Mania (DD: Making the Band)
  • July 16-20: Human Body (DD: Technological Genius)
  • July 23-27: Dream Catcher (DD: Sculpting Fanatics)
    • July 27 Lock-In: Minute To Win It (fun and silly game challenges)
  • July 30-August 3: Safari Extravaganza (DD: Architectural Design)               

Cost
Day camp for grades K-6 is $160 per week, with a non-refundable 50% deposit per week due with registration.  The LIT program is $80 per week, Discovery Detectives is $20 per session, and Lock-Ins are $65 each.  Before and After care is available every day for an additional charge of $8 per hour (rounded to 15-miunte increments).

Upon registration, campers will receive a health form to be completed and returned before the first Monday of a camper's session.
