Head of School, beginning July 2012
The following is the position
announcement from The Education Group:
Opening for
Head of School
Responsibilities begin July 2012
An independent school for intellectually gifted children, Da
Vinci Academy seeks a Head of School whose responsibilities will
begin with the 2012-2013 school year at this PK3 through Grade 8
school. The Academy's 5-acre campus is located in the Fox River
Valley, a suburban area approximately 40 miles west of downtown
Chicago. Founded in 1999 to provide an educational
environment specially designed for gifted learners, Da Vinci is, to
use the school's motto, a place"Where Bright Minds Take
Flight."
In the 12 years since its founding, Da Vinci has grown into a
school of 130 students, built an attractive physical facility,
attracted a faculty and administration with most having masters or
equivalent graduate level degrees, and secured accreditation from
the Independent Schools Association of the Central States. It
also holds memberships in the National Association of Independent
Schools and in the National and the Illinois Associations for
Gifted Children.
To continue its forward momentum, Da Vinci Academy seeks an
innovative, energetic leader who brings to the Head of School
position:
- Strong leadership and development skills
- Knowledge of gifted education
- Awareness of the independent school environment
- Experience in guiding an innovative and creative faculty
- Passion for working with bright, inquisitive, and
intellectually stimulating children
- Strong financial and management abilities
- An ability to increase the school's visibility and attract new
families
- An ease interacting with all constituencies, both within the
school and in the larger Fox River Valley communities.
Da Vinci anticipates conducting an aggressive search resulting
in the appointment of a permanent Head of School in early spring of
2012. However, it is also prepared to appoint an interim head
should that be required for a more successful leadership
transition.
Compensation will be commensurate with background and
experience. Candidates are asked to present their materials
at the earliest possible date; credentials will be evaluated as
received. Please contact the school's search consultants for
further information and to apply:
